Rahul Dravid answering media on his retirement. |
This year’s IPL has been great for Indian young cricketers as
Ajinkya Rahane from Rajasthan Royals, Mandeep Singh and Parvinder Awana from
Kings XI Punjab, Sunil Naraine and Debabrata Das from this year`s champion team
Kolkatta Knight Riders and many more but my eye is not on young stars.

Rahul Dravid Plays a cut stroke in IPL 5 |
One oldie from Bangalore who was once the captain of RCB in
the inaugural edition of the Indian premier league and was bought by Rajasthan Royals
in the year 2011, when the legendary leg spinner Shane Warne took retirement
from IPL5 he became the captain again for an IPL team and we all know him as
the wall, Mr. Dependable, Mr. Cool, and for me he is not less than Mr. Cricket.
Yes I am talking about the phenomenal 1st down batsman in the
history of Indian test cricket Rahul Sharad Dravid. In the month of march this
year he shook the nation by retiring from every format of cricket. But when ipl
started he played like a vampire and scored a lot of runs under his belt. He
and Rahane made exceptional partnerships to break the spinal cords of other
teams. Rahul dravid sailed his team well by winning 5 games out of six. But in
that contest to get a spot in the play offs the team lost some important
matches. But never the less it finished as under dogs and became the no 6. But
for the captain who is the best in behaviour in the history of Indian cricket got “The Kingfisher Fair Play Award”.

Dravid celebrating a wicket with teammates in IPL5 |
Dravid led his team as a tiger, nobody has seen Dravid in
that exciting manner when he enjoyed almost every wicket in death overs.
Despite of being an ordinary team in the chart dravid and co played inspiring cricket and beat many strong
teams. After the inclusion of Shane Watson the same RR team looked so
dangerous. But almost in every game Dravid`s contribution towards team was sky
high. Top order failed in several occasions but the master of class Dravid
never failed to include his role. He played captains knock in every single
match. Many of the experts thought that he will not be a perfect player to
invest in this format but the player who is famous for his long innings played
exceptionally well and scored 462 runs with a strike rate of 112.6 and made his
mark in the orange cap race.
May be this is the final IPL of Dravid`s career as a
player but The dravid Saga in DLF IPL
can not be forgettable. The man with golden personality is already a winner of
the hearts of every single Cricket lover. His contributions to BCCI and IPL
cannot be ignored. I bid a grand salute
to Rahul Dravid. He will be the face of cricket for me till my last breath.
